Call out for a Student Board Member

12th February, 2018
Tribes Hierachy Deep Blue

As a cooperative, we want to make sure that our Board currently reflects our membership and therefore we are seeking a current student member to put themselves forward to join our Board of Directors.

Being a Board member is an unpaid position, but it is an exciting and rewarding role which will strongly benefit the Guild's development and the city’s creative communities as well as offering you a platform to broaden your network and learn new skills.

What are we looking for?

You! The Guild's Board should reflect its membership and we have many different student members, from 1st year to PhD, from music to art, and therefore we expect applications from a wide range of people.

However, to be helpful and narrow it down a bit, we are looking for someone who:

  • is keen to connect to the creative sector in Sheffield and beyond
  • is keen, able and willing to play an active and full role in the development of the Guild
  • has ideas as to how the Guild can best represent and support its student and graduate membership

How much time will it involve?

The Guild needs full commitment and willingness from the whole board to support the development of the organisation and ensure its success.

This will include playing an active role in the recruitment of members, assisting in planning and supporting events and projects and supporting the strategic development of the Guild as a whole.

The current Board meet for two hours each month (excluding August and December) however there are often smaller meetings, commitments and events in between.

This post would run until our AGM in November and so would best suit someone who is planning to be in Sheffield until at least then. If you are in your final year and are unsure of your plans to stay in the city, we encourage you to still apply but please state this on your application.

How do I apply?

Please send a statement of no more than 300 words or a video application of no more than 2 minutes stating why you would be a good student board member to hello@sheffieldcreativeguild.com by Monday 5th March, 12pm.

Do contact us on the above email if you have any questions.

Thank you for expressing your interest, we look forward to hearing from you.
