Join us for the first meeting What Next? meeting of 2021.
What Next? is a national movement bringing together arts and cultural organisations from across the UK, to articulate, champion and strengthen the role of culture in our society. The Sheffield chapter is an opportunity to add your voice to the local and national conversation and debate. You can read more about the project on the What Next? website.
Our first meeting of 2021 will take place via zoom on 12 May and is free for anybody to attend. We will be using the meeting to discuss the issues affecting Sheffield’s creative sector and to decide on the topics for the meetings to come over the next year. To inform these discussions, we’ll be hearing from:
Rebecca Maddox, Sheffield City Council’s Head of Business Development (Culture), and other Culture Consortium members about what they’ve been working on recently and what Sheffield’s creative scene is looking like as we tentatively move towards an easing of the lockdown.
Sarah Price, a researcher in the Sheffield Performer and Audience Research Centre (SPARC) at The University of Sheffield, specialising in understanding how audiences engage with arts and culture. Sarah will speak about the UKRI project, an Arts and Humanities Research Council funded project investigating the impact of Covid-19 on arts and culture in South Yorkshire. This project is responding to and modelling the impact of COVID-19 for Sheffield’s cultural ecology.
