Monthly Social - One Thing That Scares Me April
Come be inspired and inspire others to take a step into the un(or barely)known at One Thing that Scares Me, our new monthly night dedicated to overcoming trepidation and turning challenges into opportunities.
On the last Thursday of every month, Guild members will speak about risks they’ve taken that have paid off (perhaps in surprising ways!) and chances they are contemplating today: maybe a move into something new, expanding on their current practice, or rethinking the path they’re on.
The talks will be followed by music, performances and visual art from our fearless members that will leave you ready to take on the next month.
This month's speakers are:
Tom Carpenter from Grizzle animation studio. His talk is called 'Best Lunchtime eats (for less than £6) in Sheffield' and he enigmatically describes himself as 'eater, lunch connoisseur.'
And then we have our very own Brett Chapman. As well as being the Guild's Digital Producer Brett is also an award-winning freelance filmmaker. His talk is called 'The worst stuff I've made so far'. One film reviewer on IMDb described Brett's work as "Self satisfied pseudo intelligentsia nonsense."
And you can look forward to a performance from the beguiling Fran Smith.
Fran has been described by The Guardian as blending “the melancholy of late seventies Fleetwood Mac with the caustic know-how of the Arctic Monkeys” and has supported incredible talents like Martha Wainwright and Joan As Police Woman.
