Monthly Social - One Thing That Scares Me May
Come be inspired and inspire others to take a step into the un(or barely)known at One Thing that Scares Me, our new monthly night dedicated to overcoming trepidation and turning challenges into opportunities.
On the last Thursday of every month, Guild members will speak about risks they’ve taken that have paid off (perhaps in surprising ways!) and chances they are contemplating today: maybe a move into something new, expanding on their current practice, or rethinking the path they’re on.
As well as being a lot of fun, these monthly socials support the work of our hosts, the truly lovely team at Regather. By day, Regather are committed to ethically sourcing delicious fruit and veg for the people of Sheffield. By night, they run this cosy events space (just a ten minute walk from town!) with a welcoming atmosphere and plenty of tasty beer options.
The social's talks will be followed by music, performances and visual art from our fearless members that will leave you ready to take on the next month.
At May's event, you can hear from:
Catherine Mailhac, Arts and Heritage Consultant, Creative Guild Director
As a freelancer, doing something new can feel like a real risk. What might help us to step out of the comfort zone, so that we can develop our practice and make the most of those exciting new opportunities?
Will Rea, aka 'Willustration', illustrator and soon-to-be graduate
The transition from University to '"the real world" is terrifying. It's something I'll be doing myself in a few weeks. How have I prepared myself for this?
Following Catherine and Will's short talks, the enviably gifted Genevieve Carter will treat us to some of her slammin' prose.
