Monthly Social - One Thing That Scares Me September
Come be inspired and inspire others to take a step into the un(or barely)known at One Thing that Scares Me, our new monthly night dedicated to overcoming trepidation and turning challenges into opportunities.
On the last Thursday of every month, Guild members will speak about risks they’ve taken that have paid off (perhaps in surprising ways!) and chances they are contemplating today: maybe a move into something new, expanding on their current practice, or rethinking the path they’re on.
As well as being a lot of fun, these monthly socials support the work of our hosts, the truly lovely team at Regather. By day, Regather are committed to ethically sourcing delicious fruit and veg for the people of Sheffield. By night, they run this cosy events space (just a ten minute walk from town!) with a welcoming atmosphere and plenty of tasty beer options.
The talks will be followed by music, performances and visual art from our fearless members that will leave you ready to take on the next month.
Speaking this month...
"How I stopped trying to fit into someone else's boxes and started telling it like it is"
A talk by Melanie Pearson about the quest to be authentic at work, especially when you do lots of different things. Mel is a writer, illustrator, community worker and Myers-Briggs counsellor who's never been able to come up with a simple answer to the question, "So what do you do?"
This month's social will have a focus on Mental Health and Wellbeing. Following Mel's talk, Steve Anwar will give a short workshop on the Art of Mindfulness.
When we allocate time to switch off our minds then are given freedom to play, create, have fun & experiment something magical happens: Our minds become calm, clear & empty, our inner child/spirit is re-awakened, stress & time pressures dissolve creating space for original ideas to form in real time.
