Utopia Theatre is seeking a Production Manager to lead on the logistical considerations of the company’s new production exploring the legacy of Black Female footballers with young women aged 25 and under.
Hours: This is a fixed term freelance contract from August 2022 – April 2023
Based at: Sheffield Theatres / Remote Working
Fee: £1500 (based on 10 days at £150 p/d)
Contract: One-year contract with the possibility of extension
Provide advice to the producer and director during initial planning stages of projects where
necessary.
Key duties include:
- Production manage Utopia Theatre Emma Clarke Project from project kick-off to delivery as
allocated, ensuring the highest production standards are maintained throughout and adopting
command and responsibility. - Liaise with colleagues and creatives on the Emma Clarke Project on plans and logistical
requirements for the project. - Have a solid understanding of Health & Safety to produce all relevant and applicable paperwork,
such as risk assessments or event safety management plans for the production. - Create and maintain effective project schedules and timelines.
- Responsible for ensuring statutory and legal compliance on assigned projects, including health
and safety, licensing, and accessibility amongst other areas. - Schedule and run the build, fit-up, performance, and de-rig for the production.
- Appoint, instruct, and supervise contractors, suppliers, and freelancers where relevant including a Stage Manager, Lighting and Sound Technicians; working within the project budget.
- Work with the wider project team to ensure projects increase audiences to cultural activity,
including from those facing barriers. - Work with volunteer participants interested in Lighting and Sound to help them take on the
necessary work, providing mentorship and on-the-job training where needed - Convene and chair production meetings as required.
- Report to Producer and Artistic Director.
- Manage project production budgets, forecasting spends in the early phases and reporting on any
variances to the CEO, and the board where appropriate. - Communicate with partners and attend or present at meetings as required.
- Maintain strong working relationships with Utopia Theatre’s key creatives, funders, and partners.
