Oriana Franceschi

Programme and Engagement Manager at Sheffield Creative Guild

I began working in arts programming and event management in 2014 when I moved to the Isle of Lewis to work as a programmer at the island's art centre.

I came to live in Sheffield in March of 2018 and have since enjoyed working with Sheffield Doc/Fest and Cinema For All. I am also on the programming and selection teams for Glasgow Short Film Festival and the Edinburgh Short Film Festival. In 2019 I acted as a member of the jury for Leeds Film Festival's British and Yorkshire short competition programmes.

I have a Masters in Film Journalism from the University of Glasgow, but now mainly focus on writing fiction: last year I released the second issue of a comic book entitled Periphrony. I write the series - which I describe as 'a feminist odyssey through time' - and work with a number of very gifted female illustrators on its art.

I also perform music as Shelley Byron with my band, Shelley Byron and the Poison Sleep. We recently released our first EP, Arms of Night, available more or less everywhere including Spotify and bandcamp.

My DJing moniker is Cruella de Jay.
