Joanne Rosenthal

Freelance exhibition curator, Museum consultant, Researcher

I'm an exhibition curator and museum consultant with over 15 years experience working in the museums and cultural sector.

My curatorial experience lies in making cultural and social history exhibitions, in many cases dealing with difficult or sensitive subjects. I'm really passionate about communicating complex ideas and narratives in ways that are thoughtful, innovative and accessible to broad audiences.

I moved to Sheffield in 2018 and have been working freelance since then. Before that I was Chief Curator and Head of Exhibitions at the Jewish Museum London. My most recent exhibition, Jews Money Myth (March - October 2019) which explored the complex history of Jews and money was awarded the Museums association's 'Museums Change Lives' award in October 2019.

I'm currently working on various exhibition, museum and research projects in the UK and across Europe but, frustratingly, none in Sheffield! I'm really keen to develop projects closer to home and would love to hear from potential collaborators interested in developing politically engaged exhibition/heritage projects in this wonderful city.
