I run an arts space called Flying Fish studio, based in Sheffield, opposite Endcliffe Park. I am trained in Montessori education and run my art workshops based on a person-centred approach to learning, with children and adult's wellbeing at its heart. My ethos is centred on play and enjoyment of the creative process.
I run workshops in a whole range of different mediums - including needle felting, wet felting, printmaking, quilling and fused glass. These are offered at the studio, or I can travel to other venues across Sheffield. I offer afterschool workshops as well as creative experiences at parties, get togethers and community events.
More recently, I have created video tutorials and craft boxes for use at home. These have been carefully designed to reflect Flying Fish studio's ethos.
The values at Flying Fish studio:
- To foster creativity
- To create a warm & welcoming space to be yourself.
- To respect everybody's individual needs.
- To encourage independence & responsibility through a carefully planned environment.
- To build a culture based on honesty, cooperation & respect.
“Thank you so much for the fabulous craft boxes, Hannah! Our two boys and girl (8,6 and 3) were all so excited at the arrival of the boxes with their names beautifully written on the front in calligraphy and tied with gorgeous red ribbons! They've loved watching the tutorials and having a go themselves. All the materials are lovely and we always appreciate your encouraging, caring and clear guides.” – Tim (May 2020)
"I can safely say they were by far and away the best art class experience she's had. An absolutely brilliant child-led art club that helps them develop real skills whilst following their style of learning and interests. Hannah makes every effort so that the children feel completely at home - with delicious snacks, pets on tap and a very warm welcome. Highly recommended!" - Jane (parent), Hope Valley, (November 2018).
