Philip Lee is a multidisciplinary artist based at S1 Artspace, working in the realms of portraiture through painting, photography, installation, and research. His work currently explores alternative representations of the self, in the context of emotion, architecture, and environmental psychology.

Lee is interested in capturing all aspects of the self, both internal and external, such as emotional experience, behaviour, and human attachment to place and objects.

Interest in alternative forms of portraiture stemmed from Lee’s Part II Architectural study where he researched the relationship between portraiture and architecture, and the emotional connections people have with the environments they live within. This body of research continues to influence his practice today as he continues to capture emotional experience, and explore emotional communication.
