KATHY LOIZOU is co-founder and Director of The Children’s Media Conference, the premier event for children’s media professionals in the UK. The CMC works with those who create content for children – such as producers, digital developers, writers, animators, broadcasters, and publishers. Over 1100 delegates come every July to the CMC in Sheffield. In 2016 Kathy, working with Emma Cooper from Pimoroni and Sharna Jackson of Seahorse, launched Playground - the interactive digital art exhibition for the public especially families and children.
Previously Kathy was Director of Showcomotion Young People’s Film Festival (2002-9) and Director of Sheffield Doc/ Fest (1996-2002). Kathy is a Trustee of SHIFT, a Sheffield charity which works with young people to train them in film-making and digital media. She is a Board member of the European Children’s Film Association (ECFA) and a member of BAFTA.
