Paul KingArchitect / Educator @ArchitectureSHU / Researcher
Born in Liverpool, I studied Architecture at The University of Manchester, and qualified as an Architect in 2000. I am registered with the Architect’s Registration Board and is a chartered member of the RIBA.
I have worked at senior level for several leading design practices, including Urban Splash in Manchester, Ian Simpson Architects and Glenn Howells Architects in London. My buildings have won awards, been widely published, exhibited at the RIBA in London and featured on BBC Radio 4. My own practice was one of six shortlisted for the RIBA international design competition for the redevelopment of Morecambe Bay Promenade.
In addition to architectural practice, I have always maintained a teaching profile. I made the move into full time academia in 2010 and currently lead the BSc Architecture programme at Sheffield Hallam University School of Architecture @ArchitectureSHU. I am now recognised as an innovator in architectural education and have been appointed as an external examiner at The Manchester School of Architecture and a board member of the RIBA validation panel. I sit on the Sheffield Institute of Arts steering group representing Architecture alongside other creative disciplines.
I am a dual citizen of Britain and Ireland
