Opus is a portfolio-led, not-for-profit social enterprise, dedicated to supporting community voices through digital, events and print-based engagement mechanisms. We are a company limited by guarantee, currently celebrating our tenth year of operation in Sheffield. We work exclusively with independent traders, community groups, charities and local government.
Opus runs a monthly arts and culture print publication called Now Then Magazine with a monthly readership of 30,000. This has an associated app dedicated to supporting independent traders in Sheffield via offers and rewards. We operate a print distribution service in Sheffield and also run a live events and digital literature project called Wordlife, which works locally with the Sheffield poetry community to provide opportunities for publishing, workshops and performance.
We run a festival of grassroots non-partisan politics called Festival of Debate. This annual series of 80 events over April, May and June is embedded in communities, working with over 40 campaign groups, community anchors and institutional partners to bring discussion and debate in a variety of event formats to Sheffield.
