I am a landscape painter based in Sheffield, working from BLOC studios. I make miniature, detailed oil paintings exploring traditional themes such as islands and ruins. I also work with with ceramics, exploring traditional decorative practices as well as extending themes developed in the paintings.
I studied painting at Central St Martins College and the Royal College of Art. I have shown nationally and internationally in both solo and group exhibitions including Exit Art (New York); Agnews, Clapham
Art Gallery, Kieth Talent Gallery
and Collyer Bristow Gallery
Jerwood Dance House and the Jugg Art Foundation (Suffolk); Exchange (Berlin) and Cupola (Sheffield).I have undertaken a number of public commissions, most recently for
Sheffield Industrial Museums Trust and CITU on Kelham Island producing a mural and ceramic installation. I was part of the Making Ways funded project ‘Confluence’ – showing with a group of other Sheffield artists at the Herrick Gallery in London and at Bloc.
In 2019 year I curated an exhibition ‘Flat+Earth’ at Sidney+Matilda gallery including the work of national and Sheffield artists. I was also joint winner of the Harley Open Prize and winner of the Contmeporray British Painting Prize.
In 2020, I was awarded Arts Council funding for a project working with the Portland Collection and Harley Gallery at the Welbeck Estate, Nottinghamshire. This culminated in a solo exhibition at the Harley Gallery. I was also winner of the Valeria Sykes Award as part of the New Light Exhibition.
