Our Team

The Guild is currently run by part time staff, find out more about them below.

Jane Shields, Director (currently on maternity leave)

Originally from Sheffield, Jane moved to London to train in European Theatre Arts at Rose Bruford College. After a few years in London, a stint training as an acrobatic in Estonia and a year living on a farm in rural Wales, Jane moved back to Sheffield. Jane set up the Guild in 2015 and has been running it ever since. She is also a Director of Bloom Sheffield and a Trustee for Ignite Imaginations and Bright Box Makerspace.

When Jane is not at work she enjoys listening to podcasts, eating peanut butter with a spoon and hanging out with her toddler William.

When Jess is not at work she enjoys going for walks in the peaks, crocheting and writing poetry.

Susan Downer - Development Officer

Susan was born and bred in Birmingham, and is a classic (introspective, independent) middle child whose idea of being naughty was getting home late from the library with books from the teenage section. She moved from Birmingham to Nottingham to study public administration (it seemed like a safe bet); moved from Nottingham to London to study journalism (it seemed like a safe creative bet); then moved from London to Sheffield to explore her creativity.

She has been writing scripts, poetry, and short stories ever since and is currently training to be a workshop facilitator.  She joined Sheffield Creative Guild in November 2021.

When she’s not doing creative stuff, she can usually be found explaining to her partner that she can still be hungry even though she’s just eaten.
